Locate Child Care
Childcare Resources’ Resource and Referral Program is a free service that guides families through the process of locating quality child care. Finding child care can be difficult, especially in central Alabama where there are nearly 500 child care programs.
Our trained and dedicated staff understand that this is an important decision for families. We help parents narrow down their child care choices based on their specific needs, location, kind of care, etc., and provide educational materials so they’ll know how to recognize quality child care when they visit potential providers.

Child Care Affordability Calculator
In Alabama, raising a family with children is expensive. Whether or not a family can afford child care depends on income remaining after paying basic household expenses.

The family calculator, created by Voices for Alabama's Children, allows users to select their county and based on median income for that county, see whether or not a family can access the licensed child care market after paying basic monthly expenses.
The calculator is a policy tool to better understand the challenges families have in accessing child care subsidy. For families who are interested in seeing whether they qualify for child care subsidy, please see the child care subsidy application (English and Spanish) and contact the Child Care Management Agency in your region.
