Childcare Resources’ Dedicated Supporters Provided Transformational Volunteer Hours

Childcare Resources’ Board of Directors and Junior Board Members gathered socially distanced on Friday, December 11, 2020, to provide much-needed volunteer work at one of the organization’s new Head Start Program locations. From raking leaves, to planting flowers and distributing mulch, volunteers worked outside the 100-year-old historical building in Leeds, Alabama as the agency prepares to welcome children from the Leeds community into the new, re-energized Head Start facility shortly after the new year.

“Being able to give back in this way is so important to us as Board and Junior Board Members,” says Jason Bryant, Childcare Resources Board Chairman. “This is a very special way for us to not only safely spend time with one another, but to also unite in support of this exciting new program to benefit the local Leeds community.”

Many community partners joined in making the day possible by providing materials and support for the landscape transformation. Special thanks goes to Vulcan Materials Company, Shelby Landscape Supply, Lowe’s Home Improvement – Leeds location, and United Way Hands On for providing gravel, mulch, playground sand, flowers, and landscaping tools.

The mission of Childcare Resources expanded earlier this year under the direction of the organization’s Executive Director, Joan Wright, alongside the agency’s new Head Start Director, Tonya Jones. Childcare Resources also provides Head Start services in Jefferson County areas of Birmingham (35203, 35205), Bessemer (35022), Tarrant (35217), Center Point (35206), and Woodlawn (35212).
