Stephen Black named 2009 Children's Advocate Award Recipient!
The 19th annual luncheon was held on Monday, March 9 at the Sheraton Birmingham Ballroom (click for directions). The event honors those improving the lives of children in central Alabama and raises funds for Childcare Resources programs.
Stephen was among 20 individuals and organizations nominated for the award, which was given at the 19th annual Children’s Advocate Award Luncheon held today at the Sheraton Birmingham Ballroom. The event honors those improving the lives of children in central Alabama and raises funds for Childcare Resources programs.
Stephen Black's contributions to the state of Alabama do not come in small size. He has a passionate belief in the potential of every Alabama child and believes he has an obligation to help improve those young lives. Instead of turning away from this responsibility Stephen makes a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of Alabama's children throughout the state by building collaborations, inspiring individuals, and delivering high-quality results.
Lee J. Styslinger, III, president and chief executive officer of Altec Inc., in Birmingham, along with wife Kelly Stylslinger served as honorary chairs of the luncheon, which benefits Childcare Resources. Click here for full press release.
Joanna Burleson and Willie Chriesman were the luncheon planning committee co-chairs for the 2009 luncheon. CHILDCARE RESOURCES PRESENTED BEN AND LUANNE RUSSELL WITH THE MARGIE CURRY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD AT THE 2009 CHILDREN’S ADVOCATE AWARD LUNCHEON
The luncheon featured the presentation of the 2nd Annual Margie Curry Lifetime Achievement Award. The award honors Curry, founding executive director of Childcare Resources, who retired in 2007 from her work with the agency. Benjamin and Luanne Russell received the award in 2009.
