Joshua D. Jones was awarded the 2019 Childcare Resources Award of Distinction for his longstanding support of children and families across the Greater Birmingham community. This award was presented by Childcare Resources at the 2019 Fairy Tale Ball - the premiere family gala benefiting families in Central Alabama at The Hyatt Regency Birmingham, The Wynfrey Hotel on Saturday, August 24th.
“It is quite a special privilege to be recognized by Childcare Resources,” said Josh. “The twelve plus years that I spent volunteering with the agency were very meaningful to me, and Childcare Resources’ mission is critically important. I appreciate the hard work that the staff does on a daily basis and want to thank them and the agency’s many current community volunteers for this award. I am proud to do my small part to make quality child care happen!”
Mr. Jones was selected as only the second recipient of this award by Childcare Resources. For nearly 15 years, Josh has been actively supporting Childcare Resources through volunteer service on both the agency’s Junior Board and Board of Directors along with personal financial contributions; he also played an integral role in establishing the organization’s annual Fairy Tale Ball, which has now celebrated its 13th anniversary. This event has generated nearly one-million dollars over the years to provide thousands of families with essential support and resources they otherwise may not have been able to receive.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to be able to recognize Josh for his philanthropic spirit and dedication to some of our youngest neighbors,” said Joan Wright, Executive Director of Childcare Resources. “We are so grateful for the incredible impact Josh has had on the agency through his passion for and dedication to ensuring every child receives the absolute best start in life.”
Mr. Jones is currently the Managing Principal of the Birmingham office of Bressler, Amery, and Ross, PC, where he focuses his practice in the defense of brokerage firms and financial institutions against claims asserted by their customers and employees in state and federal court, and in arbitration proceedings throughout the United States. He also serves as a member of Bressler’s Senior and Vulnerable Investor Group – a group with shared interest in providing counsel to corporate clients who confront issues affecting seniors. For several years, Josh represented multiple indigent children through the Immigrant Children’s Advocacy Project of Catholic Charities of Atlanta to assist with securing Special Juvenile Immigrant Status. More recently, Josh has focused his pro bono practice on veterans' issues, including volunteering with the ABA Military Pro Bono Project and Operation Stand-By, and securing accreditation with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs through the ABA’s Veterans’ Claims Assistance Network.
In addition to his volunteer roles with Childcare Resources, Mr. Jones currently serves on the Veterans Task Force for Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham, and as co-chair of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation’s Audio Content Committee.
