Fall Festivities and More for Birmingham Families

Halloween is right around the corner! Check out these fun, creative activities to join the celebration with your family all month long.


  • Decorate Pumpkins: This tradition is simple and fun for all ages! Check out this list for toddler-friendly ways to decorate pumpkins.

  • The Birmingham Zoo’s Halloween Event: Visit the Birmingham Zoo for Hoots & Howls, the daytime family-friendly Halloween event! Wear your costumes and trick-or-treat through the Candy Trail, join in the Monster Mash dance party with the DJ, meet animals of all shapes and sizes, and more! The event will be held from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm every Saturday and Sunday the last 3 weekends in October. Click here for more information or to purchase wristbands.

  • Spooky Movie Night: Dress up in fun costumes and enjoy Halloween from home with a family movie night! Let your children pick out a movie, pop some popcorn, and enjoy Halloween candy from the comfort and safety of your own home.

  • Harvest Festival at Oak Mountain State Park: Celebrate Fall and welcome the beautiful Autumn colors on Saturday, October 22 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm! Free entry for children ages 3 and under.   • Trick or Treat at the Hoover Public Library: Mark your calendars to visit the Hoover Public Library to trick or treat from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Monday, October 31!
